In this role You will help support a team that grows, energizes, and supports a widely recognized PNW community. Your primary focus will be towards our TEDxSeattle social channels, where you will collaborate with writers, designers, strategists, and other marketing professionals. You’ll gain experience working alongside some of the industry’s best, and your work will be seen by tens of thousands of people in Seattle, within the TEDx community, and beyond. Why participate? Roles And Responsibilities Monitor social channels to look for opportunities to engage, answer questions, or provide support Reply to individuals on social with guidance from internal team members and program strategy documents Collaborate with internal stakeholders to plan and execute content and integrate parallel efforts Help manage editorial calendar with input from PR, Marketing, Speaker Team, etc. Schedule social content for upcoming weeks through scheduling tool Provide insights observed while monitoring social channels, these could include trending conversations, frequently asked questions, and interests from our audience Organized and professional in client communications and interactions. Experience 2+ years experience in a professional social media role Experience with social media tools, and best practices in the industry Strong collaboration and communication skills Detail-oriented and organized Ability to write short-form copy Customer service or event marketing experience a plus Ability to work across various tools like Microsoft Office and Google Suite Time Commitment 2-5 hours/week Desired Skills and Experience This position requires the following skills: Copy Writing / Copy Editing, Social Media, English, Verbal / Written Communication, Brand Development and Messaging, Marketing, Advertising.

Why become a speaker recruiter for TEDxSeattle: This is an opportunity to engage with people who you think are interesting or impressive or who have an important message. Is there someone whosework you think our audience would find interesting? Is there someone whose work you admire and would like to know more? Have you read about someone who you think has a perspective that you have not heard before? As a Speaker Recruiter, you would have the opportunity to approach and connect with fascinating people and engage in conversations about possible ideas they could present in a TEDxSeattle talk. Characteristics: Insatiable curiosity, a willingness to make contact with people that you’ve probably never met to engage in a conversation about their possible interest in being considered to speak at TEDxSeattle. Our speaker recruiters have excellent communication skills, are good at evaluating people and ideas, and are well networked, especially in the PNW. Having a strong expertise in a specific area of interest would also be very helpful. Time commitment: 3-6 hours a week Training will be provided. Speaker Recruiter Roles and Responsibilities ● Attend a 1 hour meeting each week to discuss speaker candidates and candidate ideas. ● Attend a training session. ● Develop a list of 10-20 persons of interest and research each sufficiently to priority rank. o Basic research about the Speaker Candidate can be done mostly if not entirely online, reading Wikipedia and LinkedIn, and finding articles about or by the candidate. o Some speaker candidates may be provided to you through our referral process. ● Conduct in-depth research on your top 5-10 candidates o Watch their videos (if available), listen to their podcasts or talks, read their books, published articles, a company’s website, etc. Contact to establish availability and commitment. ● Speak with 3-6 candidates. o Speak to a target candidate about the time involved, the type of TEDx support provided, core idea possibilities and how to submit their application. You would also evaluate their coachability and level of commitment. What you will be asking the candidate to submit: ● A clear statement of their idea ● An overview of the arc of their talk with ○ Introduction to their idea ○ Major content sections ○ Key points that support their idea ○ How the idea relates to their personal story Based on this submission, candidates will be selected to attend a Pitch Session where they will present a 5-minute excerpt from their proposed talk to the Speaker Curation Team.
