The Literacy Alliance is seeking a caring and companionate volunteers to tutor a visual impaired student within our Project Graduate program.

Volunteer will be provided training, learning materials, and guidance. Tutoring task included helping students with introductory language concepts, reasoning, and assist student in adjusting to auditory learning.

Description

Learning centers enable adult students to prepare to earn their High School Equivalency (HSE, past: GED) and strengthen basic skills for job training and post secondary education. One-on-one tutoring helps adults strengthen their basic reading, math, and language skills.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • We are asking volunteers to committee to meeting twice a week for two hours each visit for a minimum of eight months
  • Training and orientation are done together. This process takes about 2 hours with built in breaks. We have group sessions at our Summit location or at the Allen County Public Library.
