About Honduras Child Alliance

Location:

Barrio La Playa, El Porvenir, Atlantida 00000, HN

Mission Statement

The Honduras Child Alliance provides educational enrichment and healthy living programs for children and teens in the north-coast beach community of El Porvenir. Programs include: English & Spanish literacy, computers, arts, intro to science, sports and fitness, group skills/conflict resolution, and more! These projects were initiated in response to our awareness that the cycle of poverty is perpetuated through lack of education. The combined energy of our international volunteers, managers, and directors blends a unique and effective set of skills to support educational and humanitarian projects in an effort to target that cycle. As we collaborate to develop opportunities for children in El Porvenir, we welcome volunteers, sponsors, and cooperation with like-minded organizations.

Description

The Honduras Child Alliance programs offer free programs that include immersive literacy activities in both Spanish and English, and art, music, science, and sports activities. Laptops and Kindles are used to enhance learning with technology. Programs run year-round.

In addition: * Healthy Snacks Program / Nutrition Education: Children receive a daily protein-filled snack to address food insecurity among our students. The snacks are nutritious and locally sourced, promoting healthy food choices. * Sexuality Education: Age-appropriate information to help young people understand and make good decisions about their bodies. * 'Mascotas Saludables' / Healthy Pets: Quarterly events to provide healthcare, vaccinations, and flea/tick treatments to animals in the communities while also promoting kindness to animals and helping children learn to care for their pets. * English for teens: An immersive English class designed for high school students who are eager to practice speaking, reading, and writing in English. * PEP-Adultos: English instruction tailored for adults. * Convo-Amigos: Our adult students become tutors for our international volunteers in conversational Spanish. This exchange benefits everyone and fosters lasting skills and friendships.

Join us for a relaxed and enriching experience with a diverse team! You will make learning fun and true friendships are formed!
