The Blind Community Center of San Diego (BCCSD) is a 501c3 charity supporting the blind and low vision community in San Diego County. Our participants make handmade crafts all year and our big event is our December Nights Craft sale. Our blind singers will sing and we will sell handmade hats, scarves, beaded ornaments and more in Balboa Park at the annual December Nights event.

Are you available to help the Blind Community Center of San Diego set-up and/or tear-down our craft sales booth for December Nights in Balboa Park? Friday, December 1st and/or Saturday, December 2nd.

Work will include setting up and/or breaking down the sales booth in Balboa Park. We will load Blind crafts into our vehicles at the Blind Community Center on Park Blvd., drive them to the Balboa Park location and then set up. Set-up is between 11 am and 2 pm on Friday, December 1. Tear down is between 11:00 pm and 11:45 pm on Saturday, December 2. We will break down the booth, load the vehicles with tables, chairs, the canopy, and unsold crafts.

We need volunteers who can lift, carry, and help set up and/or tear down the canopy, tables, chairs, lights and decorations in our booth. During the event, museums are free, there will be food trucks and entertainment. Volunteers can help us set up and then have fun at the event. On Saturday, volunteers can enjoy the event and then help us tear down. This is a fun, rewarding opportunity.

Happy attitude and pleasant demeanor a must.

Rewarding work for the right person.

Thank you.

Mission Statement

The Mission of the Blind Community Center is to enrich the lives of blind and visually impaired adults, preparing them for a normal, active life in a society that is principally sighted.

Description

The Blind Community Center (BCCSD) needs you! We give blind and low vision people in our community a place to go every day to relax or just have fun. Our participants are able to socialize with their peers, practice independence skills, make crafts, play games, and enjoy a free lunch. We have water skiing and surfing in the summertime and activities like karaoke, bingo and cribbage all year long. Social activities help people stay healthy and motivated to live a better life. Our participants look forward to monthly BCC parties and special Holiday events. We are looking for volunteers who can help us continue our legacy of making a better life for the blind and visually impaired in our community. The Blind Community Center of San Diego is a 501c3 charity, established in 1949 at 1805 Upas street in Balboa Park. Volunteers are the heart of our team, and we value each and every one of them.
