The Mission of the Blind Community Center is to enrich the lives of blind and visually impaired adults, preparing them for a normal, active life in a society that is principally sighted.
The Blind Community Center (BCC) is a 501c3 charity, established in 1949 at 1805 Upas street in Balboa Park. The BCC gives blind and low vision people in our community a place to go every day to relax or just have fun. Our participants are able to socialize with their peers, practice independence skills, make crafts, play games, and enjoy a free lunch. We have water skiing and surfing in the summertime and activities like karaoke, bingo and cribbage all year long. Social activities help people stay healthy and motivated to live a better life. Our participants look forward to monthly BCC parties and special Holiday events. We are looking for volunteers who can help us continue our legacy of making a better life for the blind and visually impaired in our community.
