Immigration/Refugee Services - Family Literacy Intern
Location: 2505 Maine Avenue (currently remote), Metairie, LA
The intern will work closely with the ESL and Family Literacy Program staff to supplement program activities and enhance services to the students.
Responsibilities include:
- Opening and closing Family Literacy class sessions
- Assisting to facilitate class discussions and activities
- Creating one-on-one or small group pairings for students and tutors
- Curriculum development for students practicing English, preparing for citizenship interviews, and workforce development
- Planning for events outside of regular Family Literacy class hours
Students with an interest in intergenerational education, English as a foreign language, or immigrant and refugee services are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, French or other languages valued.
Schedule: Flexible Mon-Fri between 9 am - 7 pm. Approximately 8 hrs /wk.

Catholic Charities has over 22 programs and twoaffiliated ministries in the eight civil parishes of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Our programs engage and serve members of the community from pre-birth to the elderly but all of them fall under one of the following areas:

- immigration/refugee resettlement
- justice and employment
- physical and mental health
