About us

Save the Water(tm) (STW(tm)) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to solving the world water crisis through excellence in water science research and by forming alliances with organizations, scientists, universities, media, businesses, and governments around the world to promote awareness of water contamination issues.

A passion for water. STW(tm) associates must have an understanding of the value and role that water plays in the quality of life of all living things on the planet.

Volunteering with STW(tm) is different from other volunteer experiences as we work in an almost 100% online environment. Save the Water(tm) is run like a business and we rely heavily on frequent email communications, meetings held via google hangouts/Zoom, and collaboration on projects via google drive. Volunteers are held to high standards and deliverable due dates.

We aim to build bridges with local businesses, communities, governments, and schools and have become part of an ever-growing solution in bringing clean water to everybody regardless of their socio-economic backgrounds.

Our educational objectives are to provide students, educators, and communities access to free and extensive resources including water facts, infographics, media, lesson plans, student activities and games, water experiments, curriculum materials for educators and much more! The Role:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Education, you will lead and implement quality management activities through the creation of policies and procedures to ensure that content meets our education objectives and goals. This role will work with our team to ensure the accuracy of language and the functionality of our educational objectives and goals. The incumbent will have a strong background in editing and quality assurance (QA)

What you will be responsible for...

  • Establish a framework that defines and measures quality in our content materials.
  • Proofread content materials and documents to ensure standardization in style, layout, design and grammar, and adherence to editing standards.
  • Review and ensure content is correct and accurate on the website and adherence to standards and templates.
  • Give/receive feedback to/from internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner.
  • Work with the Water Education Materials team on continuous process improvement and development of quality control tools and documentation.
  • Maintain a high-level of attention to detail: editing materials that are high quality, grammatically correct and error-free.
  • Follow organization and the Education group’s processes and standards.
  • Work closely with project leads to keep them informed regarding project scope and timeline.
  • Manage work time effectively, tracking hours and meeting deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively with the team members in the Water Education Materials team to ensure project success.
  • Attend virtual meetings in EST timezone (GMT -4:00) and respond to emails within 36 hours.

  • Some Bachelor’s Degree. Equivalencies of education and experience may also be considered.
  • Experience in technical editing and/or quality assurance.
  • Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience using Google product applications or GSuite.

PREFERRED:

  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and lifecycle.
  • Familiar with common editing standards.
  • Experience in coordinating writing projects
