Program Team Strategic Initiatives Intern - 2021-2022 School Year
The Arc Minnesota
This stipend eligible position is for the 2021-2022 school year and includes a $1000 stipend paid in December and May. The Arc Minnesota’s Strategic Initiatives intern will directly support our statewide Program Team by:
- Participating in the planning & implementation of systems change efforts
- Assisting with strategic planning, community messaging, staff development and workflow processing
- Providing administrative, logistical, project management, and/or evaluative support in collaboration with and under supervision of the Associate Program Director and Chief Program Officer
Specific duties may include:
- Support Strategic Projects and Initiatives across all program
- Collaborate within program team areas and across organizational department
- Support disability & racial justice initiative
- Assist with ongoing development and implementation of an equity framework that promotes anti-ableism, and anti-racism in all programs and services statewide
- Support programmatic evaluation
- Design and disseminate surveys and other evaluation methodologies
- Process information received and provide recommendations
- Analyze and support implementation of Human Centered Design principles and practices
- Support Job Board Development
- Co-facilitate Program Team Work Planning meetings
- Document ideas, questions, concerns, and possible solutions
- Analyze discussion themes and create possible next steps or scenarios
- Create power points, summary documents, work plans and other pieces of communication to share with staff, The Arc Minnesota stakeholders and the community at-large
- Support outreach efforts to inform stakeholders about services and resources available at The Arc Minnesota
- Host booths and deliver presentations at community events
- Engage in conversations to other community members and organizations

- Demonstrates skill in effective use of resources and supports
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of services and supports for individuals who have intellectual or developmental disabilities and their families
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills necessary
- Ability to successfully work both as a team member and independently
- Willingness to learn, be coached and be mentored
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficient computer skills, manages multiple priorities and follows a project through to completion
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
- Multiple language capabilities and lived experiences preferred, but not required
Time Commitment: 2020-2021 school year at 10-14 hours per week. Hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm with occasional evenings and weekends.
The Arc Minnesota is a statewide nonprofit organization that works to promote and protect the human rights of people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through statewide programs and services, we help people navigate systems while working to advance social change centered in justice, equity, and belonging in community.

The Arc Minnesota does this by providing individuals and families information and assistance around disability rights, laws and services. The Arc also provides workshops, support groups, counseling, individual and systems advocacy from birth throughout the lifespan.
