Mission Statement

to provide access to food, shelter, and housing to those experiencing hunger and homelessness in North Orange County.

Description

Pathways of Hope is committed to rebuilding lives of the hungry and homeless in Orange County through Housing, Outreach, Prevention, and Engagement. Once a family or individual has become homeless, the path back to stability can be very challenging. Pathways of Hope offers several housing options to fit different situations, all with the goal of helping families and individuals re-gain permanent housing as quickly as possible. Through the assistance of case managers, career counselors, and housing specialists, we work with each client to eliminate the barriers that are keeping them from returning to a home of their own. Via Esperanza, located in Anaheim, is an immediate response shelter for homeless families. New Vista, located in Fullerton, is an immediate response shelter for homeless families. Hope’s Corner offers longer-term transitional housing for graduates of our New Vista housing program. Rapid Re-Housing is a housing model which ends homelessness for families and individuals by assisting them with move-in costs and supportive services. Pathways of Hope also operates a resource center, the HUB of Hope, which offers emergency food and hygiene items to homeless and low-income families and individuals in Orange County. In 2015, Pathways of Hope adopted a Client Choice Model of food distribution, wherein clients are able to select the food items that best fit their households’ needs, instead of receiving a standardized bag of food. Pathways of Hope’s volunteers assist with food rescue from several local grocery stores, allowing us to provide fresh produce and dairy products along with non-perishable goods. We recently expanded the supportive services available at HUB of Hope and now offer career counseling, nutrition and life skills classes, ID referral services, and a variety of other resources. This program also serves homebound adults in our community by supplying specially designed frozen meals as a nutritious supplement. Pathways of Hope offers a wide array of volunteer opportunities to engage members of the community in our quest to rebuild lives of the hungry and homeless. Volunteers are able to serve on special event task forces, assist in operating the food distribution program, help with administrative tasks, and offer support with maintenance, just to name a few opportunities. To register to volunteer please fill out a volunteer application available on our website at www.pohoc.org/volunteer or for more information about volunteer opportunities contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Ann Stoddard, at (714) 680-3691 ext. 230 or email astoddard@pohoc.org
