Don’t we all appreciate the comfort that comes from a friendly voice on the other end of the phone?

Our faith-based organization is seeking volunteers to call older adults who are isolated, reside alone, or just need encouragement or reminders throughout the day. You could make these simple and brief phone calls to one or several elderly adults, however many times a week you prefer. The time commitment is very flexible and dependent on volunteer interest. Most Telephone Reassurance Callers serve 2-4 hours a week.

You will receive pre-service orientation and training. All volunteers must pass fingerprinting federal and state background checks.

Overview:

With the Telephone Reassurance Callers, we provide friendly telephone calls to older adults to make them feel less isolated and give them quick reminders throughout the day to promote increased socialization, decreased isolation, and the peace of mind that having someone familiar checking in can bring.

Responsibilities:

Trained volunteers, in addition to having a friendly conversation, can remind seniors to take medications, eat a home-delivered meal or warm a frozen one, and in some cases provide linkage to additional services that can assist.

The need:

Volunteers are needed and can live anywhere.
