Encompass Health- Hospice of Albertville
Encompass Hospice in Marshall County has opportunities for students to earn volunteer hours with Volunteer Services. Volunteer Services' purpose is to touch lives by offering non-medical support to patients and their families. The hospice team includes staff and volunteers, who work together to improve their quality of life. Our volunteers make a difference in their lives through companionship, spiritual and emotional support, calls, visits, running errands, yardwork, celebrating holidays and numerous other ways.
Junior Volunteers are required to be at least 14 years old and complete training, a background check, 2-step TB skin test and drug screen all paid for by Encompass. Jr. Volunteers may assist in the office without an adult guardian present; the Volunteer Coordinator will provide appropriate supervision. Junior Volunteers must also have the ability to work independently, be organized, have a mature disposition, and the ability complete written documentation.
Junior Volunteers, who have direct contact with patients, must have an adult volunteer accompany them to a home or facility. The adult must complete the requirements to become a volunteer with Encompass. All volunteers must have reliable transportation. We adhere to CDC guidelines and provide appropriate PPE to volunteers. Volunteer commitment is ongoing, and flexible to volunteer’s schedule.
At this time volunteer will not enter the home but instead maintain social distancing, wear appropriate PPE provided by Encompass and only make no- contact "porch" visits.
If you would like to do a special project for patients, indirectly through arts, gifts, baking, food drives or in other ways please contact me. Although it is preferred, special project volunteers do not have to meet the above requirements. Projects can be completed at home, and delivered to our office. We welcome students, individuals, and families to participate.
The experience that students gain will be valuable, engaging, and make a huge impact to the patients and families. If you would be interested in volunteering, please contact me at 256-878-0787 or email at crissy.harris-faulkner@encompasshealth.com.
Sincerely,
Crissy Harris-Faulkner
