You represent the Red Cross.

A disaster occurs. Multiple agencies respond. At the Center, YOU listen, learn, and are the voice of the Red Cross.

As you can imagine, large-scale disaster preparation, response, and recovery services requires the coordinated cooperation of a variety of experts and expertise. This includes representatives from multiple agencies, private and public organizations, various levels of government, and more. Everybody has a seat at the table. In this role - as part of the Red Cross Emergency Management Team - you are in that seat, listening, learning, and speaking on behalf of our humanitarian efforts.

Cooperating with your Volunteer Manager, specific responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining strategic relationships while assigned to an Emergency Operations Center (EOC.) Includes promoting a productive collaborative relationship with government partners, diverse groups, and internal Red Cross units to fulfill our government operations objectives while supporting victims of disasters and related activities.
• Participating in internal and external planning efforts and exercises.
• Providing situational awareness and facilitating response activities.
• Effectively representing the Red Cross to external partners and explaining our disaster policy, services, and procedures.
• Notifying Chapter and Regional staff to significant events and contributing to appropriate reports.
• Attending regularly scheduled meetings and training.
• Other duties as discussed.

IMPORTANT: Requires availability to work 12-hour shifts during assigned disaster responses.

Qualifications:

• Ability to work with technology.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with excellent writing, listening and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to change, negotiate compromise, clarify, and be flexible while managing multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously during potentially stressful situations.
• Demonstrated willingness to be part of a team.
• Commitment to the mission of the Red Cross, including values, fundamental principles, etc.
