Filmmaker & Video Editor Volunteer Position

Girl Now Woman Later Inc. is looking for a video producer and editor who is a storyteller and a change maker! We're seeking adult volunteers to help us complete a short project by utilizing the raw files of already-produced digital content.

If you have video production and editing skills and experience, we'd love to hear from you!

Organizational Impact:

This digital content for Girl Now Woman Later Inc. will help us support our engagement goals (through views, likes, comments, watch time, and retention). It will also help further our mission and raise awareness of the social issues that girls from Burkina Faso are facing every day.
Goals

We hope to release these videos as soon as possible. Therefore, we are looking for somebody who can dedicate time to this project within the next 3- 4 weeks.

Time Commitment and Location of Work:

This project will require an estimated 2 to 3 hours of editing.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Skills and understanding of shooting and editing.
  • Experience operating a camera and using video-editing software.
  • Video production, including editing on iMovie, Adobe Premiere, or Final Cut Pro.
  • Knowledge of appropriate video/audio-based software used with Apple products.
  • Ability to produce videos that are consistent with the expectations of Girl Now Woman Later Inc. in terms of branding, voice, and message.

Mission Statement

The mission of Girl Now, Woman Later, Inc. is to educate girls about menstrual health and reduce period shame. GNWL also works to increase the graduation rate for middle school and high school girls in Burkina Faso. We strongly believe that an educated girl will develop into an emancipated woman.

Description

Burkina Faso, West Africa is one of the few countries in the world where girls don't get to experience being a girl because of various reasons such as child marriage, school dropout, being left out over boys, and period poverty. Our mission is to increase the school retention rate and graduation rate among middle and high school girls in Burkina Faso. To address gender disparity in education, we team up with local midwives/nurses to provide menstruation education workshops so that girls will learn more about their periods and also keep them from skipping school by providing hygienic feminine products. We also provide tuition assistance to a selected group.
