Essential Functions

  • Monitor existing systems & infrastructure to track their availability, speed, backup
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
  • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Routinely test installed software for glitch detection and other issues
  • Troubleshoot problems and perform root cause analysis (RCA) on the same
  • Ensure constant availability of technical resources
  • Prioritize mission critical tasks
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
  • Provide different levels of support - L1, L2, L3
  • Design and implement security systems and redundant backups to maintain data safety
  • Write custom scripts to reduce the need for human intervention
  • Experience working in problem management and incident management environment, using ITIL standards
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

Qualifications

Basic Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Engineering or related field required
  • Proven experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting software & environments.
  • Experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g., Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, Ruby, NGINX)
  • Knowledge about AWS & Azure cloud platforms
  • Knowledge on virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box)
  • Experience with monitoring systems & automation software (e.g., Puppet, cfengine, Chef)
  • Basic scripting skills
