Want to directly impact homeless youth? Teen Feed is looking for street outreach volunteers to join their team! Our teams believe in meeting youth where they’re at, even when that means meeting them in alleyways, parks, or on the side of the freeway. Outreach volunteers are often the first contact with service-avoidant youth and play an important role in providing basic needs, introducing them to services and getting them back on their feet.
The Street Outreach Team is looking for volunteers who are personable, consistent, empathetic, committed, and interested in supporting the young people in their community. Teams are composed of outreach specialists, healthcare workers, social workers, students, and passionate community members. All individuals are encouraged to inquire.
Volunteers are required to wear a face mask and face shield at all time while interacting with the young people that Teen Feed serves. Reach out to inquire more about Teen Feed's COVID - 19 protocols. All outreach volunteers receive remote training in conflict de - escalation, trauma informed care, and anti - oppression.
**This a weekly opportunity for Tuesdays 11 am - 1pm**

With the tremendous support of the community, Teen Feed responds to the most basic needs of homeless youth with integrated programs: Teen Feed Meal Program, Street Talk Outreach Program (STOP), Service Links for Youth (SLY) and Youth Access to Care (YAC).
Thanks to your partnership in 2015 Teen Feed:
Opened its doors to 50 - 80 youth each night
Offered over 20,000 nutritious meals to hungry youth
connected with over 600 individual youth in need
worked with over 800 volunteers, who donated over $130,000 in food
History
In 1987, nurses from the University of Washington Medical Center noticed that many street youth accessing the emergency room were severely malnourished. The community responded, and faith groups, service providers, and neighbors came together to provide food to the University District’s homeless youth population. Teen Feed was born, and now we average 40-50 guests each evening. Teen Feed is the only provider of meals specifically to youth and young adults in the University District open regularly every night of the week.
