Interested in directly serving Seattle's community of homeless young people? Wanting to make a tangible impact and address hunger and basic needs in your community? Become an advocate! Advocates are responsible individuals over 18 years of age who provide consistency and positive relationships to youth guests in addition to helping meet basic needs at the Teen Feed dinner program. Advocates are crucial members of our direct service team who remember youth’s names, help meet the basic needs of meals and supplies, conduct entryway health screenings on youth, and join guests in open air environments to engage in conversation. Additionally, advocates help with nightly set up and tear down of the service space and work with staff coordinators to create detailed records of the evening’s activities. REQUIREMENTS: Advocates are an integral part of the Teen Feed dinner program and act as consistent sources of support for our young people. Having the same people show up on a regular basis creates a sense of community and trust. Advocates commit to 2/2.5 hours (6:00/6:30-8:30pm) one evening per week for a minimum of one year of service. This includes the holiday season, as Teen Feed continues to operate every day of the year. If you know that you will be taking a significant amount of time off during the holiday season, please reach out to us to discuss. **SUMMER-ONLY volunteer opportunities available** Advocate volunteers must complete: -in-person volunteer orientation -remote training that encompasses topics such as anti-oppression and intro to youth homelessness -Advocate Application + Washington State Patrol background check. Teen Feed aims to create a volunteer corps reflective of the diversity of our youth - those who represent diverse identities and/or have lived experience with homelessness/housing insecurity are highly encouraged to apply. **COVID Safety: At this time, we are recommending that individuals who may be high - risk do not participate in - person at the Teen Feed dinner program. All volunteers are highly encouraged to wear face masks. PPE provided.

Are you a whiz in the kitchen? Interested in working with other passionate volunteers and directly supporting an agency that serves homeless youth and young adults? Join our team as a volunteer kitchen lead and gain experience managing volunteers and leading a kitchen! The Teen Feed Kitchen Volunteer Lead is a new volunteer position with the purpose of supporting kitchen operations during the time of COVID-19 at a trusted youth-focused outreach organization. The lead receives and expedites donated items, guides other kitchen volunteers, and ensures that high quality to-go food is available for distribution at Teen Feed dinner sessions. This position prepares and labels all dinner items for transport, overseas quantity, and occasionally is responsible for cooking dinner when needed. The Lead volunteer is one of a team of seven (7) alternating leads, each responsible for overseeing one day of weekly service. Kitchen Leads must be 18+ Commitment is once weekly, 6-12 months, with preference given to longer term applicants. **This position does not involve direct contact with youth, but does involve working in a kitchen space with small teams of volunteers. Kitchen spaces are sanitized and PPE is required. This is an enriching experience managing other passionate volunteers, leading large scale food preparation and kitchen management. Ideal for anyone interested in nutrition, food service, social justice, community causes or looking for in-person nonprofit experience. **At this time, we are recommending that individuals who may be high - risk do not participate in - person at the Teen Feed dinner program. Provide dinner for homeless youth! Meal teams consist of five-15 people who provide and serve a hot, nutritious meals to youth at the Teen Meal Program. Meal Team Members provide food, prepare, and serve the meals, and clean the kitchen. Teen Feed serves 60 youth each night, and an average meal costs under $300. Corporate groups looking for team-building activities and social or civic groups make great meal teams! Meal Teams Scheduled on a one time or recurring basis, subject to availability. Meal Team Lead must complete: -meal team application (+ background check) -in-person volunteer orientation -at least two shadow shifts in the kitchen with experienced meal teams -$10 WA State Food Handlers Permit -remote training

In-Reach Volunteers (Must be 18+) Teen Feed’s version of "drop-in," In-Reach volunteers help facilitate a welcoming space for youth to hang out before Teen Feed’s dinner service. Meeting youth "where they’re at," this time and space is for youth to use however they choose, with the support of In-Reach volunteers to help maintain a safe space, and must commit to one evening shift per week for a minimum of 6 months.

Are you a whiz in the kitchen? Love to work with your hands and excited about making a tangible difference in the lives of your community members? Do we have a project for you! Teen Feed is looking for reliable, hard-working, and passionate individuals to help us cook and package meals in our kitchens. Teen Feed has transitioned to a to-go dinner service since COVID, serving hot and delicious meals out of the doors of our service sites every single evening. Young people are able to get access to nutritious food, bathroom facilities, and basic supplies such as toiletries and clothing. Kitchen volunteers are important members of our team and help make sure that we have beautiful and tasty meals ready to serve by dinner time. Logistics: Teen Feed operated in the University District, the exact location will be provided upon registration for a volunteer shift. Kitchen Volunteer shifts are from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm every day of the week. No commitment or experience required. Safety information: Kitchen teams limited to 4 - 5 people max to allow for safe space usage, masks and gloves required at all times, all individuals entering service sites are temperature checked. It is recommended that potentially high-risk individuals do not participate in person at this time. Please do not attend Teen Feed if you have *any* symptoms of illness. Kitchen volunteers do not come into direct contact with the populations served.
