Women's Empowerment International (WE), a San Diego-based nonprofit that provides impoverished and marginalized women with tools to improve their lives, seeks a volunteer for our WISE Project. WISE (Women's Impact, Sustainability and Empowerment Project), is our tool to compile and analyze data on the impact of our funding and projects. WE is committed to transparency about the use of donor contributions, and accordingly launched WISE to generate data about the effectiveness of the use of the funds provided to its implementing partners. The organization seeks a volunteer to assist the WISE project leader in the generation of visual depictions of data for the annual reports.

This is an ongoing project, with major activity occurring in spring of each calendar year; an aggregate total of no more than 30 hours of contributed service. The volunteer can elect to receive mentorship throughout the year in the field of monitoring and evaluation, including selection and definition of indicators of program progress and outcomes.

This is an excellent learning opportunity for an analytical person with Excel fluency and some graphic design skills to assist in the empowerment of vulnerable women. The WISE project is led by a nationally recognized leader in the field of nonprofit and NGO program monitoring and evaluation. Great for a student (of any age) seeking to build skills and gain exposure to this interesting field while making a positive difference in women's lives.

Mission Statement

Women's Empowerment International (WE) is on a mission to empower women with tools to work their way out of poverty, care for their families, and strengthen their communities.

Description

Women's Empowerment International (WE)-a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in San Diego, CA-was founded in 2003 with an ambitious goal to disrupt the cycle of poverty for women around the world, especially those living in under-resourced, rural communities. Since then, WE has provided over $2.3 million in grant funding for women’s economic empowerment programs locally and internationally. We envision a world without poverty in which women are empowered, uplifted, and equal partners in society. Together with our donor community and funding partners, WE funds microfinance programs, small business development support, training, education, and other holistic poverty alleviation strategies benefitting thousands of women experiencing poverty around the world. WE currently has grant partners in seven countries including the U.S (in San Diego and Puerto Rico), El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, and Uganda.
