Best Friends is starting Kitten & Cat foster program in Polk County, Florida! Your community in Polk County is important to us and vital to achieving our No Kill 2025 goal. This will be a satellite foster program which means that it is run by Best Friends staff that is not located in the vicinity of the program but is anchored by a priority shelter and supported by local volunteers.
Opening your home to a foster pet saves lives, plus it frees up space for another pet to be rescued. Fostering a pet, whether for days, weeks or months may be short-term, but the results are long lasting - not only to the pet, but to you, too. Studies have shown that having a furry friend around can reduce anxiety and help relieve stress - not to mention brighten even the dreariest days.
We aim for animals to be adopted from foster homes in about 4 weeks (assuming the are old enough, kittens can't be adopted until they are 8 weeks old) but we can work with the time you have available.
