American Red Cross of Southeastern PA - Head Quarters

Opportunities throughout Southeast Pennsylvania, including Philadelphia and neighboring counties.

Nationally the Red Cross is known for responding to large disasters, including hurricanes and wildfires. But did you know most of our disaster responses happen closer to home, predominately house fires? It is where I started myself over 12 years ago as a volunteer and still consider it among the more important things we do.

Disaster Action Team (DAT) members work - on-scene and virtually - offering comfort, aid, supplies, and resources to victims of disasters. It’s that peak behind the curtain, an opportunity to provide direct help, to be a hero! There may be no greater feeling in the world than being there for your community and neighbors when they need you most.

All training is provided (free) plus you will be part of a great team - and meet some wonderful new friends along the way. To learn more, including how you only respond to disasters in your neighborhood and on your schedule, email Ned.Bloom@redcross.org. Don’t forget to ask about "behind the scenes" volunteer positions in disaster preparation & education, communications support, and long-term recovery services, many of which you can do from home over the telephone or computer. As with all Red Cross volunteer opportunities, it is always up to you, based on your availability and interests. Thank you.
