Intern Job Description - Administrative & Research


From The Bottom Up Foundation (FTBUF) is looking for qualified interns to join our team. As we prepare for the launch of our programs and initiatives we seek an intern who can work independently. This intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced, virtual team environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of nonprofits, film, television and music. The intern will develop building-level administrative skills by assisting our team in providing professional leadership to organize, administer, and provide support for FTBUF’s programs and initiatives.


Responsibilities:

Assist with general office, HR, IT, Accounting and Marketing activities as determined and directed by the Office Manager or President or Board Chair.

Assist and work with the staff as well as outside vendors as required.

Assist the staff with general office duties including, but not limited to, research, data entry, digital filing and general coordination.

Assist in managing the flow of paperwork.

Assist and facilitate staff as necessary - whenever and however needed.

Assist with business development matters including marketing material preparation.


Requirements:

Current College student

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Extensive knowledge of social media

Driven and hard-working

Ability to take direction and multi-task

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

PowerPoint, Word and Excel

Google Suites

Slack

Other duties may be assigned

High degree of organizational skill and problem-solving ability; specifically the ability to work as self starter. Resourcefulness in finding information and answers from within and outside the organization without prompting or micromanagement; a "consummate" self starter.

Respect for details; ability to execute accurately at a high level without excess supervision.

Ability to prioritize/execute to achieve desired organization and project goals with prudence and sense of urgency.

Articulate communication skills - verbal, pictorial and numerical.

Excellent telephone etiquette, communication and organizational skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desire to learn and grow professionally.

General computer skills including Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.

Desire to invest your passion and commitment to a vision you feel you can embrace and contribute to the growth of the organization and its success.

A willingness and flexibility to do "whatever it takes" for "whoever needs it" foster the growth and success of FTBUF.

Ability to embrace and live the company’s Core Integrity.

From The Bottom Up was the title of the debut album from the Grammy nominated and award winning R&B group Brownstone. As one of the founding members of Brownstone, Nicci Gilbert who hails from Detroit, MI has stayed true to her humble beginnings and has never forgotten the struggle and hard work that it takes to reach the top - from the bottom up. From The Bottom Up Foundation was created by Nicci Gilbert Daniels with this journey in mind. Our purpose is to provide support, tools and support for BIPOC women and girls.
