Mission or Broader Program Description: The mission of KYCC is to serve the evolving needs of the Korean American population in the greater Los Angeles area as well as the multiethnic Koreatown community. KYCC's programs and services are directed toward recently immigrated, economically disadvantaged youth and families, and promote community socioeconomic empowerment.

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: The Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) is a relatively new program offered by KYCC that is quickly growing and is looking for a systems minded person to create an online pro bono volunteer onboarding process and volunteer handbook (pdf and/or password protected online portal) for busy tax professionals.

The Pro Bono Volunteer Coordinator will be working alongside the Managing Attorney of the Clinic to:

Research and implement recruitment, retention and recognition processes

Streamline onboarding understanding current workflow and online tools

Create LITC Volunteer Handbook (merging 2 sample ones from other clinics) into a single PDF

Create Volunteer Resources password protected online wiki or portal

Requirements:

Ability to maintain confidentiality and sign non-disclosure agreement, as volunteer will have access to client database to see entire process

Systems thinker with attention to details for creating process workflow

Ability to learn new software/programs: Docusign, Jotform, Adobe Acrobat DC, Droplr/Loom

Legal or tax background helpful Volunteers can work remotely.

Time commitment: roughly 8-10 hours a week for a minimum 3 month period.

Description

The Koreatown Youth and Community Center was established in 1975 to support a growing population of at-risk youth in Los Angeles. Today, KYCC is the leading multiservice organization in Koreatown, supporting low-income and recently immigrated children and their families in the areas of education, health, housing, and finances. Our volunteer opportunities range from short-to-long term, unskilled to skilled, for youth and adults, and ranging from everything from community research to tutoring to tree planting.
