Volunteer Treasurer (Part-Time Volunteer)

This is an officer for an AVOs (All Volunteer Organization) Autistic Women’s Alliance.Treasurer reports to Autistic Women’s Alliance Board of Directors.

Autistic Women's Alliance is an autistic run organization that encourages autistic women to think about, craft, embrace, and express their self-defined individuality within and beyond the workplace. We're non cis-male space for individuals that identify as women, or marginalized genders. This includes cis women, trans women, and non-binary individuals.

Autistic Women's Alliance aids autistic women to thrive in current or new careers through different ways that include peer mentoring, education, and community outreach. Our members may or may not be employed full time, or formally diagnosed. We encourage women that identify as autistic or as being neurodivergent to participate.

Summary:

Manages and oversees financesfor Autistic Women’s Alliance, that includes reconciling bank statements, and managing cash flow.

Time Commitment

10-20 hours per month. This includes board of director and other meetings.

Terms of Office

At least one year, with the possibility of renewal past the first year.

Roles and Responsibilities

Treasurer offers guidance to the CEO, and the board of directors to ensure good fiscal planning, decision-making, and oversight at a governance level.

Required Qualifications - at least one year experience working with nonprofit or equivalent experience.

  • Maintains books and records to ensurethat they’re accurate and updated.
  • Responsible for tracking and forecasting annual budgets
  • Comfortable using QuickBooks Premier Non-Profit financial software.
  • Prepares monthly or quarterly financial statements reviewed by the board of directors.
  • Treasurer submits tax filings on a timely basis.
  • Write out checks, disburse payments for operating and other expenses.
  • Treasurer verifies and is accountable for donations and grant monies received and for service delivery contracts.
  • Familiar with filing 990s, 1099s, and state tax filing forms.
