During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
Greetings - Sew We Work teaches disadvantaged persons how to sew - via zoom meetings. Currently I teach students whom I've been working with for almost a year. New Foundations and Project for Pride in Living partners with Sew We Work in order for their residents to learn a life-time skill, as well as the opportunity to earn money sewing their projects. We teach what the students want to learn - seams, zippers, pillows, bonnets, blankets. They have made masks, headbands, and bags.
The opportunity to volunteer is perfect for anyone who enjoys sewing, wants to help others learn, and doesn't mind chatting while sewing. A volunteer will need either a computer, laptop, tablet or phone that has a camera in order for student(s) to see the teacher and the student(s).
The sewing call is 2 hours per week, Tuesday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. No requirement to be there every week.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
