Support administration of online and full-service nonprofit governing board member recruiting program focused on Latino professional and community development. The Volunteer works with Latinos LEAD managers and consultants to support the organization’s governing board member recruiting services with thoroughness, professionalism, efficiency and best practices in the industry. The Volunteer reports to the Latinos LEAD Executive Director.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and administer proprietary recruiting program online platform to assist with the application, nomination, and placement of Latino professionals on nonprofit governing boards to
  • Maintain thorough and accurate Salesforce data management to provide recruiting program customer service and management information related to:
    • Organizations sending inquiries, creating accounts, organization profiles, and governing board opportunities
    • Individuals sending inquiries, creating accounts, individual profiles, and applying for active governing board opportunities
    • Update Salesforce records to reflect contacts and communications organization and individual
    • Create Salesforce reports of individuals meeting eligibility of governing board opportunities posted by organizations
    • Generate timely, thorough, and accurate reports on recruiting service activities and outcomes
  • Contact individuals and organizations using the online governing board recruiting program to:
    • Review thoroughness and accuracy of information submitted online by individuals and organizations
    • Update, correct, and complete information and records in accounts and applications submitted online by individuals and nonprofit organizations
  • Determine applicant eligibility by studying governing member job descriptions, organization profiles, websites, and applicant experience, education, and other Qualifications
  • Determine applicant qualifications by interviewing applicants, analyzing responses, verifying references
  • Inform and attract applicants to governing board opportunities by contacting Latinos LEAD partner organizations, community leaders, professional member associations, business associations, and specific individual prospects
  • Follow up referrals and nominations made for specific governing board opportunities
  • Comply with, and suggest improvement to, recruiting service procedures to ensure office efficiency, reliability, and compliance with best practices
  • Work continuously with Executive Director to ensure compliance with all state and federal hiring and equal opportunity laws and regulations

Organization Background: Latinos LEAD (Latinos for Leadership Excellence And Diversity) prepares and recruits qualified Latinos for nonprofit governing board service. Pursuing this mission will significantly advance Latino professional and community development, improve charitable sector outcomes, and contribute to a better quality of life for all Americans.

Latinos LEAD is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in California in 2017. The Latinos LEAD concept was developed by founder and board chair Patrick Salazar, an executive search professional with more than 25 years of senior nonprofit management and consulting experience. Salazar, along with his board colleagues and other volunteers, carried out more than a year of research, strategic planning and program development and formally launched Latinos LEAD in the spring of 2018. Latinos LEAD is committed to ongoing objective and thorough evaluation of all its programs and services and shares the findings with model initiatives, other researchers, and the general public.

Programming Summary: Latinos LEAD collaborates with nonprofit organizations to achieve two fundamentally crucial and interrelated outcomes: 1) Recruit and train highly-qualified Latino board members; and, 2) Foster their success and retention through formal mentoring and by helping nonprofits initiate customized inclusion blueprints.
