ENJOY DRIVING?
WANT TO HELP FREE UP SOME TIME FOR OUR HOSPICE NURSES AND AIDES?
Join our team and provide a huge service to our bereaved families and Homeland Hospice by picking up sealed and un-used supplies after a patient passes away. Items will be easy to lift and transport and may include briefs, bed pads, wound care products and such. Larger equipment, such as hospital beds, shower chairs, bedside commodes and etc. will NOT be the responsibility of the volunteer.
Families are often eager to have these items removed from their home as soon as possible after the passing of their loved one. The Volunteer would be contacted by the Volunteer Coordinator, preferably through email (a secure program) and provided with the family member’s name, phone number and address for the pick-up. The volunteer would pick up the items and return them to the Homeland Hospice office at 2300 Vartan Way, Harrisburg. Homeland Hospice serves 14 South Central PA Counties. Most pick-ups would be in the "core" service area of Dauphin, Cumberland, York, and Perry Counties, but some pick-ups may need to occur in Adams, Franklin, Fulton, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Mifflin, Northumberland, Schuylkill, and Snyder counties as well.
Supplies will not be taken from COVID+ homes.
Volunteers are required to complete an orientation program which is available as a self-study and can be completed in the volunteer's home at their own pace. Also required is a background check and a 2-Step PPD (TB) test. Any expenses will be covered by Homeland Hospice.
