READING SERVICES TAX PREPARATION PROGRAM ASSISTANT

The Reading Service Program’s mission is to ensure that printed material for personal, education or professional use is available in accessible formats for people who are visually impaired. A program assistant is needed to assist with the coordination of the day-today activities of the tax program.
Position: Tax Preparation Program Assistant
Job Summary: This short term position will help with execution of the tax program for people with vision impairment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for responding to client inquiries, scheduling appointments, assisting with virtual tax document submission and managing the onsite tax preparation event, if necessary.
Principle duties and responsibilities:
- Assisting clients with both virtual and contactless-in person document submission.
- Manage the pairing of clients with onsite tax preparation slots.
- Answer phone calls.
- Receive volunteers and clients.
- Manage cancellations and makes appropriate notifications and schedule modifications.
- Escort visually impaired clients if needed.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to handle confidential information.
- Skill managing a project is required.
- A strong customer service orientation, good interpersonal skills and math aptitude.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- The ability to take and follow instruction and apply critical thinking skills, required.

REQUIREMENTS
- This volunteer opportunity will take place Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. It is possible that there will be one evening required for the on-site tax assistance program. The ideal candidate will be available at least three times per week.
- Business/ Business Casual (no jeans or sneakers). The ideal candidate will be available at least three times per week through the end of March 2021.
