Hospice of the West is seeking Veterans to volunteer in several areas.
- Veteran-to-Veteran: Veterans are matched with a Veteran patient or caregiver. This is an opportunity to provide conversation, companionship, and support to these individuals.
- Gift of Presence: Veterans hold vigil with a dying Veteran, so no Veteran dies alone.
- Veteran Pinning: Veterans provide support at a special ceremony that recognizes Veterans in the community in addition to our Veteran patients.
- Veteran Cafe: Veterans provide support with hosting gatherings for Veterans in independent and assisted living facilities.
We will provide 11 hours of training to prepare the Veteran volunteer to address the specific needs of patients and caregivers. Call us at 602-343-6422 or email us at volunteer.coordinators@hospicewestaz.com to apply or receive more information.

Please join our hospice family in providing comfort and companionship by sharing your time and talents with our special hospice patients.

WHAT DOES A VOLUNTEER DO?
There are many different types of volunteers and many ways to get involved. Below is a list of volunteer types:
Companionship or meaningful presence
Reflective listening
Light housekeeping
Light meal preparation
Dog walking
Life review/conversation
Reading/card writing
Music therapy
Caregiver support
Caregiver respite
Arts and crafts
Play therapy (games)
Pet therapy
Administrative (clerical tasks, office errands, organization of events)
Interpreter service (including sign language)
Minor home repairs
