k9 connection | Pets' Landing is looking for volunteers who would like to foster a pet in need from the comfort of their home...is that YOU?

Our Pets' Landing program serves the needs of people experiencing homelessness by caring for their pets. We are part of one of the largest Southland social services agency, with a staff of over 800. Our tireless case and clinical managers bring us in as a member of the team to help clients live happy and healthy lives which includes their furry family members.

You would be playing an important role in their lives by fostering their pet for a specific amount of time, so they can go to the hospital, a drug treatment program or emergencies like illness and incarceration.

In the application, you can specify the type of pet you think would be a good fit for your household, including your family members and other pets.

Each of the pets have owners, and the owners have case managers and Pets' Landing on their team.

Please consider joining our pool of foster parents by filling out an application today. We'll follow up with a phone call to discuss your preferences and any time or logistical constraints.

About k9 connection

Location:

2116 Arlington Ave., Suite 100, Los Angeles, CA 90018, US

Mission Statement

The k9 connection program provides essential services and supplies so pets of people experiencing homelessness can be healthy, happy and safe through the PETS LANDING PROJECT; and helps disadvantaged youth build life skills through the experience of training and bonding with shelter dogs, in continuation high schools through the k9 ACADEMY.

Description

k9 connection has been a program of The People Concern since 2005.

k9 connection works to optimize and support healthy human animal bonds, by providing services through their two main projects:
* k9 Academy
* Pets’ Landing

When you support k9 connection, you are helping pets of people experiencing homelessness to be healthy, happy and safe through the Pets’ Landing project; and empowering vulnerable youth by engaging them in animal-assisted interventions through k9 connection’s on-site programs (k9 Academy) held at continuation highs schools.

All of the projects and activities that are part of k9 connection are unique and serve dual populations: (1) disadvantaged youth and shelter dogs; and (2) pets of people experiencing homelessness. For the latter, by offering the free clinics, we have also expanded our reach to serve the clients of other social services staff beyond TPC, as well as those individuals living with their pets on the streets.
