Idaho Home Health and Hospice

  • 20 people are interested

Looking for volunteers to encourage our hospice patients and their families. Opportunities include: visiting with patients, companion and respite visits to patients and families, administrative and office work, delivering flowers to patients monthly, handwritten notes of encouragement monthly, mailing patient educations monthly, phone calls to patients for follow up or bereavement, bereavement mailings, etc. What do you love to do? Do you have a talent or passion you want to share? Do you sew or craft or play an instrument? There are so many ways we can take what you love to do and turn it into an opportunity to encourage patients and families in the process of hospice care.
We currently have patients throughout Ada and Canyon County and beyond. We have urgent needs for volunteers in the areas of:
*patient in home visits in Canyon County (this involves being matched with a patient/family that you would visit on a regular basis 2-4x's/month depending on your availability)
*deliveries to patients throughout the Treasure Valley on a monthly basis (once a month volunteers deliver gifts/flowers to patients, this involves driving from house to house and delivering the gifts)
*phone calls to patients, caregivers, and bereaved families (this involves calling patients and caregivers 1-2x/mo to check in and see if they have needs, calling families of those who have passed to see if they are receiving all the bereavement services they need from us)
If the "urgent needs" don't apply from you but you would still like to volunteer, please do reach out to me! I can use volunteers in ALL areas ongoing so don't not reach out to me just because you aren't able to fill the urgent needs. We will take all the volunteers we can get! We love our volunteers and I try very hard to find ways for you to help that will be meaningful to you!

Our vision statement is "We will improve the quality of life in the United States by transforming the delivery of healthcare services." There are many ways to make a difference as a hospice volunteer. In addition to direct patient care (time spent with a patient or family, chatting, playing games, light housekeeping, running errands), there are many administrative and non direct patient care ways a volunteer and still make a big impact. Some of these include: administrative/office duties, helping with veteran's honoring ceremonies, delivering flowers to patients, handwriting notes of encouragement, sending out the monthly patient education packets, helping with bereavement calls and mailings, etc. We also do a lot of volunteer retention, making sure you are filled up and encouraged so you can fill up and encourage our patients and families. We have volunteers that have been with us since 2015. Come join our team today!
