We are looking for individuals or groups who would like to use an easy online pattern, to create handmade bears for grieving children. These will go into our "Comfort Boxes', which are distributed to funeral home directors and school counselors, to distribute to newly bereaved students upon their return to school.
You don't have to be super crafty or a professional, we love the handmade look of our bears! This is a great opportunity for Home Ec teachers, Brownie/Girl Scout/Cub Scout groups, college students, sewing groups and more! Volunteers of any age are welcome! Hand or machine sewing.
The pattern is here: https://www.shinyhappyworld.com/2014/04/warren-charity-bear-free-teddy-bear-pattern.html
Interested groups: We are unable to provide supplies or shipping costs. If you are interested, you will have to provide all of the supplies and mail them to us in Pennsylvania. This has been a very successful volunteer activity for us so far! We distribute over 300 annually to newly bereaved students.
Please feel free to use any and all types of fabrics, whatever you have to use is great! We love variety!
Thank you for helping!! We are a 501c3 nonprofit public charity, and all of our programs including our Comfort Boxes are provided at no charge to the grieving families we serve.
Our website is www.campkoala.org, and we have a Camp Koala Facebook page too!
