The Junior Coach volunteer position is for high school students who are ready to empower the next generation of girls! As a Junior Coach you get to 1) participate in a program that provides training, experience, and service credits, 2) be a mentor for younger girls, and 3) be part of a positive community!

You do not need to be a runner! Girls on the Run is an inclusive space for girls of all abilities. Each interactive lesson creatively integrates movement so in the midst of having fun and learning, your team progresses towards their goal of crossing the finish line at GOTRVT's 5K! With your support, girls will recognize their inner strength, build positive relationships, complete a community service project, learn how to stand up for themselves and others, and MORE!

As a Junior Coach, you will be paired with a coach team of approximately 3 - 4 adult volunteers to lead your team through the season. Teams are comprised of 12 - 15 girls in grades 3 - 5 or 6 - 8.

Our spring 2022 season begins the week of March 28. Programming is 8 weeks with each team meeting twice per week for 90 minutes. Girls on the Run Vermont provides comprehensive training, lesson plans, sanitation and safety supplies and all curriculum materials.

All volunteers must submit a registration form directly via GOTRVT. Once your registration form is reviewed and approved, GOTRVT will match you with a team in your community.

Mission Statement

We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. Our Girls on the Run core values include: Recognize our power and responsibility to be intentional in our decision making; Embrace our differences and find strength in our connectedness; Express joy, optimism and gratitude through our words, thoughts and actions; Nurture our physical, emotional and spiritual health; Lead with an open heart and assume positive intent; Stand up for ourselves and others.

Description

At Girls on the Run we inspire ALL girls to build confidence and make intentional decisions, while fostering care and compassion for self and others. We train and support our volunteer coaches in using physical activity and dynamic discussions to build social, emotional and physical skills in every girl while encouraging healthy habits for life.

The 3rd-5th grade program, Girls on the Run, encourages girls of all abilities to recognize their individual strengths and celebrate connections with others. Our tested curriculum blends physical activity with skill development that enables girls to adapt to whatever comes their way. In today’s unpredictable world, the strategies learned at Girls on Run are more important than ever.

Heart & Sole is Girls on the Run's middle school program that meets the unique needs of girls in 6th-8th grade. The program considers the whole girl - body, brain, heart, spirit and social connection. Girls need an inclusive place where they feel supported and inspired to explore their emotions, cultivate empathy and strengthen their physical and emotional health.

We welcome enthusiastic, dedicated and positive volunteers who are committed to empowering girls with valuable life lessons. Our spring season is 8 weeks and culminates with a 5K Celebration for all teams. The finish line is just the beginning!
