Serving as a Junior Coach is a fun and rewarding way for 15 to 18 year old high school girls to
get involved with Girls on the Run, grow their leadership skills and make a difference in the lives
of girls throughout their community. As a junior coach you get to 1) participate in a program that
provides training, experience, and service credits, 2) impact younger girls, and 3) be part of a
positive community!

The Junior Coach is a volunteer position for high school girls to deliver Girls on the Run
programs with a team of coaches at a program site. Teams are comprised of 6-12 girls in either 3rd - 5th or 6th - 8th grade.

Our spring 2021 season begins the week of April 5. Programming is 8 weeks with each team meeting twice per week for 90 minutes. Girls on the Run Vermont provides comprehensive training, lesson plans, sanitation and safety supplies and all curriculum materials.

To ensure the safety of our volunteer coaches, participants, and communities, all teams will be hybrid this season and prepared to transition to a virtual setting, if necessary. All activities have been modified to ensure appropriate physical distancing and to eliminate shared materials.

All volunteers must submit a registration form directly via GOTRVT. Once your registration form is reviewed and approved, our regional VT Program Managers will match you with a team in your community.

Description

Girls on the Run Vermont was founded in 1999 with 15 girls participating in Windham County. Girls on the Run Vermont now serves thousands of 3rd - 8th grade girls throughout the state. At Girls on the Run we inspire ALL girls to build confidence and make intentional decisions, while fostering care and compassion for self and others. We train and support our volunteer coaches in using physical activity and dynamic discussions to build social, emotional and physical skills in every girl while encouraging healthy habits for life.

The 3rd-5th grade program, Girls on the Run, encourages girls of all abilities to recognize their individual strengths and celebrate connections with others. Our tested curriculum blends physical activity with skill development that enables girls to adapt to whatever comes their way. In today’s unpredictable world, the strategies learned at Girls on Run are more important than ever.

Heart & Sole is Girls on the Run's middle school program that meets the unique needs of girls in 6th-8th grade. The program considers the whole girl - body, brain, heart, spirit and social connection. Girls need an inclusive place where they feel supported and inspired to explore their emotions, cultivate empathy and strengthen their physical and emotional health.

We welcome enthusiastic, dedicated and positive volunteers who are committed to empowering girls with valuable life lessons. Our spring season is 8 weeks and culminates with a 5K Celebration for all teams. The finish line is just the beginning!
