The San Jose Team Hope Run/Walk is an annual fundraiser for the San Francisco Bay Area Affiliate of the Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA). The walk in June is the crown jewel of our nonprofit fundraising year, and the culmination of months of organization and preparation. The event is held at Campbell Park in Campbell CA, and lasts approximately 6 hours, with approximately 40 hours of promotion/preparation leading up to the event from February-June.
The coordinator(s) for the event will be mentored by a veteran lead coordinator with years of experience successfully managing this event.
Skills needed
- Leadership development and people management experience
- Experience with event planning
- Fundraising experience (1-2 years)
The coordinators will organize Volunteers to:
- Contact sponsors and generate auction items and prizes
- Help with promotion of event on event websites, community calendars, and though media
- Physically put flyers up in store fronts, running trails, gyms, etc.
- Help staff and run the event
Successful candidates will be:
- Passionate, persistent, clear communicators
- Available to dedicate time to monthly activities leading up to the event
- Able to prioritize, think strategically, and efficiently utilize volunteer resources
