Virtual and hybrid learning presents unique challenges for children...the last thing they should have to worry about is having a pencil. At home learning requires many of the same tools as in-person instruction, but the burden is falling on the shoulders of families who simply do not have the resources to provide materials.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, once students head back to their buildings, they will not be allowed to share materials. In both situations, teachers are rising to the task of taking care of their students' needs. And Teachers' Treasures is here to make sure that teachers have access to the supplies that are vital to student success during these unprecedented times.

Be part of these virtual and in-person classrooms by volunteering with us at our NW Free Store. Volunteers mask up and help teachers check-in and out on the computer, restock shelves, and do some light cleaning. You'll hear teachers' stories and be amazed at the cart loads of thousands of dollars worth of supplies heading to local classrooms in Marion County thanks to your efforts.

Volunteer shifts at our NW location are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:15pm-5:30pm. You can sign up for one day or be present each week until the end of the school year.

Mission Statement

Teachers' Treasures obtains and distributes school supplies to teachers of classrooms and students in need.

Description

Every day at public, charter, private, and parochial schools located throughout Marion County, children of all ages attend class without the most basic supplies they need to get a good education. Dedicated teachers are often willing to pay for these much needed supplies out of their own pockets to make sure the kids in their classrooms have the necessary tools to learn.

Teachers' Treasures, in partnership with local businesses, charitable foundations, neighborhood organizations and individual contributors, helps fill this need by operating a volunteer based "Free Store for Teachers." Donated educational supplies and other materials are distributed via this unique conduit to teachers for the benefit of their students.

Teachers' Treasures offers a variety of group volunteer activities that can be tailored to your group or organization. Please contact Hanna Yaeger-Busch at hanna@teacherstreasures.org or call 317-264-1758 for more information.

Teachers who volunteer 2 or more hours can earn extra shopping passes. Teachers who are normally ineligible to shop can also volunteer to earn opportunities to shop.
