Mission Statement

Teachers’ Treasures works to ensure teachers, educators, and students have access to free, vital resources for classroom success.

Description

Every day at public, charter, private, and parochial schools located throughout Marion County, children of all ages attend class without the most basic supplies they need to get a good education. Dedicated teachers are often willing to pay for these much needed supplies out of their own pockets to make sure the kids in their classrooms have the necessary tools to learn.

Teachers' Treasures, in partnership with local businesses, charitable foundations, neighborhood organizations and individual contributors, helps fill this need by operating a volunteer based "Free Store for Teachers." Donated educational supplies and other materials are distributed via this unique conduit to teachers for the benefit of their students.

Teachers' Treasures offers a variety of individual or group volunteer activities that can be tailored to your group or organization. Please contact Sarah Gregory at sgregory@teacherstreasures.org or call 317-264-1758 for more information.

Teachers who volunteer 2 or more hours can earn extra shopping passes. Teachers who are normally ineligible to shop can also volunteer to earn opportunities to shop.

This was a great opportunity for me and my 13-year-old son. This place is great for what they provide to our students and teachers in the Indianapolis area. Teachers have it hard, esp when students don't have what they need and this place is a blessing.

I HAVE BEEN VOLUNTEERING WEEKLY AT TEACHER'S TREASURES FOR ABOUT 18 MONTHS. IT IS WONDERFUL TO SEE THE TEACHER'S SO EXCITED ABOUT BEING ABLE TO SUPPLY THEIR CLASSROOMS WITH MUCH NEEDED MATERIALS. JUDY AND THE STAFF AND TEACHER'S TREASURES ARE ALWAYS ANXIOUS TO WORK AROUND WHATEVER SCHEDULE A PERSON CAN VOLUNTEER, AND I ALWAYS FEEL SO APPRECIATED AT THE STORE. ALTHOUGH IT IS AN INNER-CITY NEIGHBORHOOD, THE STORE AND PARKING LOT ARE WELL LIT AND FEEL SAFE WHEN DARKNESS FALLS SO EARLY IN THE WINTER MONTHS. "SHOPPING HOURS" ARE GENERALLY 3-6PM ON MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY, BUT VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED ALL THROUGHOUT THE DAY FOR RE-STOCKING SHELVES,BUNDELING, AND THOSE WITH CREATIVE HANDS CAN SPEND HOURS CREATING BOOKMARKS AND JOURNALS. THE SHOPPING HOURS CAN BE HECTIC, BUT ARE FUN AND REWARDING. NO TEACHING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED! HOPE TO MEET YOU AT TEACHER'S TREASURES SOON :)
