The Nest Academy provides education to underprivileged youth in the East Charlotte area. The Nest Academy, is a small private school with a vision to change the lives of our students.
The Nest Academy, formerly known as One7 Academy, was started by MC Hildreth in 2009 with five girls in a small donated space near uptown Charlotte. The Academy now has 53 students, K through 12th grades. The students are from Vietnam, Thailand, The Congo, Ethiopia, Mexico, Thailand, Uganda, Eritrea, Vietnam, Argentina, El Salvador and the United States.
If you are interested in working with students, but your schedule is not consistent from week to week, then this is the perfect opportunity for volunteers to work with students throughout the year when their schedule allows while filling a huge need at the school.

Mission Statement
Where we educate, empower and enrich Charlotte’s refugee, immigrant, underprivileged and at-risk children through a holistic education addressing the whole child: academically, emotionally, socially and experientially to become first-generation graduates. A trauma-informed, holistic approach to education to promote whole healthy youth for tomorrow.
Description
EDUCATE, ENRICH and EMPOWER students through education, a sense of COMMUNITY with LOVE and RESPECT and to encourage them to become confident, educated, accomplished, giving and successful first generation refugee high school graduates. WE HAVE SEEN GREAT SUCCESS! The academy is UNIQUE, it is OUT OF THE BOX and unprecedented. We have created a custom learning environment that is multi age, multi grade and multi faceted. We integrate creative, performing and visual arts, music and rhythm therapy, provide a holistic approach to address the whole child, welcome public speakers in the community to inspire students, offer cutting edge physical, social, emotional training, and many experiential opportunities outside of the classroom, much like those MC personally experienced growing up. Upon graduation, our students are equipped to succeed in America.
