Serve Those Who Served - AmeriCorps Legacy Corps Volunteer- Pinellas & Hillsborough locations

Are you a compassionate person who’s looking for a more meaningful, ongoing volunteer service opportunity with flexible hours? If so, we’d love to talk with you.

The Legacy Corps for Veterans and Military Families (LCVMF) project is an AmeriCorps service program that helps keep veterans and military families in their homes and communities longer - allowing them to postpone or even avoid moving to a care facility.

You may be thinking, "Sounds great! But what will I be doing?" Well, you’ll be spending time with our veteran patients so that their caregivers can get away for a few hours to run errands or simply relax. We’ll help prepare you with a comprehensive 20-hour training program - where you’ll meet the other members of your AmeriCorps cohort - and even go out with you on your first patient visit.

AmeriCorps service is more than just about volunteering, though. We provide valuable ongoing skills training and experience working with the country’s largest nonprofit hospice and home care-based health care organization. And, some additional rewards for your service may include:

  • On a monthly basis, a modest living allowance to offset gas or other expenses
  • At the end of the service year, a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award - approximately $1700 - that can be used to repay qualified student loans or pay for college or trade school

Since 1994, over a million AmeriCorps members have volunteered their time and skills to serve our country and to make our communities safer, stronger, and healthier. Choose the Legacy Corps program and join the other 270K+ AmeriCorps members this year who will make a huge positive impact in their communities.

Description

Our Legacy

Founded as Suncoast (1977) and Tidewell (1980) as true pioneers in hospice care, each of our organizations adapted to change and grew to meet the needs of the community, ultimately evolving to become Empath Health and Stratum Health System, respectively.

We came together as Empath Health in March 2021, creating the country’s largest non-profit hospice and home care-based health care organization. Rooted in the remarkable people that give so much of themselves, we look to further our unwavering commitment to uniquely high standards by now growing together.

Our vision, shaped by inspiration and nurtured by imagination, is now made possible by our collaboration. Together, we will grow to better support the communities we love and are so privileged to serve. Together we can protect our legacy of exceptional care, better strengthen our ability to provide and best solidify our devotion to bringing together the healthcare expertise necessary with the emotional and spiritual support so essential to our shared mission.
