Aurora Youth Options (AYO) works with middle and high school-aged youth and their families to navigate, connect and provide positive, individualized resources to help youth thrive. AYO's Homework Help program (HH) focuses on helping students with their homework and provides indirect mentoring. Currently, AYO's Homework Help Program occurs every Tuesday from 4-5pm. All students and volunteers log onto the same Video Zoom call and we put participants into breakout rooms based off of the subjects they need assistance with that evening. Volunteers come to build relationships, help with homework, and support our students during these challenging times. We ask our volunteers to commit to volunteering with Homework Help every Tuesday until the end of the school year. *Math and Science abilities are especially needed.*

Description
Aurora Youth Options (AYO) is the youth prevention team of Aurora Mental Health & Recovery. AYO works with middle and high-school-aged youth and their families, helping young people gain life skills and confidence for personal success and happiness. AYO assesses each individual youth to determine what resources would be best, offer support and make the connection.
Referrals include mentoring, existing community resources, pro-social activities or enhancing life skill-building.
Nearly half the young people between the ages of 10 and 18 live in challenging situations that put them at risk of not living up to their potential. They need a listening ear and gentle guidance that can turn a negative situation into a life lesson.
Our staff, volunteers, and mentors nurture and help young people grow their personal and professional skills leading to greater happiness and a better outlook as they come into adulthood
