We are looking for a creative, innovative artist with a passion for working with young children to facilitate virtual classes. The Sculpting Instructor will teach young children from ages 5-7 on how to create small sculptures using modeling clay/Play-Doh and other simple household materials. The instructor will prepare students to present and speak to one art piece as part of a virtual showcase at the close of the semester.
Conduct virtual classes for a group of young children once or twice per week for our winter semester (January-March 2021).
Must draft a full curriculum that outlines all lessons from week-to-week and materials needed to perform projects.
Teach students the fundamentals of sculpture using their hands and basic, age-appropriate tools.
Prepare students for a virtual showcase performance in March 2021.
Complete weekly session notes following each class
Regularly communicate with parents to provide updates on their child’s progress, reminders about upcoming sessions, materials list for individual sessions, and other communications as needed.
Maintain consistent communication with program directors via email and participation in scheduled facilitator meetings to update on student progress, class attendance, etc.
Prior experience in sculpting required
Patience to work with young children preferred
Strong interpersonal & communication skills
A art degree or certification is a plus but not required
Must be 18+ years old
Hours of work and duration of commitment: Must be available 5 hours per week (Monday - Friday) between the hours of 2pm and 6pm EST. Minimum 3 month commitment from January through March 2021.
