A Free Bird is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization based in New York City. Our organization provides children diagnosed with cancer the opportunity to explore their artistic passions and give them the strength to fight their disease. Artistic expression has been proven to play an instrumental role in the healing process. We support children affected by cancer in their exploration of a range of self expression such as art, music, acting, poetry, writing, singing and much more!

Job Description

The Post Production Volunteer works closely with the Production Associate on designated projects for the Multimedia department. This position requires volunteers to maintain quality standards to ensure all deliverables are met in a timely fashion. The volunteer will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, where follow-through and handling multiple projects is imperative to the success of the department.

Responsibilities

• Organize and string together raw footage into a continuous whole according to the instructions of the Production Associate or President.
• Edit films and videotapes to insert music, dialogue, and sound effects, to arrange films into sequences, and to correct errors, using editing equipment.
• Select and combine the most effective shots of each scene to form a logical and smoothly running story.
• Review footage sequence by sequence to become familiar with it before assembling it into a final product.
• Set up and operate computer editing systems and digital video effects units to produce a final product.

Qualifications

• Degree in English, Digital Media, Video Production, or related field.
• Proficient in Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of color correction, audio editing, and audio mastering.
• Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Has worked both collaboratively with other team members and individually.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive applications.

Additional Information

Due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 and its severity, the organization has committed to working remotely. We care about our interns/volunteers’ health and we will adapt to the new working environment accordingly.

Proper at-home working capabilities include laptop, smartphone, and connection to WiFi/internet. Must be available to have a phone/video conversation at least once per week.
