Welcome House of Northern Kentucky is in need of a maintenance support volunteer to help manage our trash and cardboard recycling. Due to covid, we are cleaning our facilities much more frequently, and with that comes the need for more help managing our office trash. Also due to covid, more and more donations are coming in through the mail, which means we have a lot of cardboard boxes each week that need to be broken down and driven somewhere else for disposal or recycling. We have a dumpster at our secondary location which is also in Covington, but if a volunteer would like to take it somewhere else to be recycled or reused that would be great too! An SUV or truck will work best for moving the cardboard, as some of the boxes can be quite large and may not fit in a sedan.
This will be a weekly need, possibly twice a week between Thanksgiving and the New Year when in-kind donations come in most frequently.
The hours are flexible any time during our business hours, which are M-F 9:00am-4:30pm. Volunteers will be subject to a background check and must sign in agreement to our covid-prevention measures, including but not limited to wearing a face mask at all times, monitoring their temperature and symptoms, and participating in contact tracing.

Description
Welcome House works with individuals currently experiencing homelessness or at-risk of becoming homeless through a variety of services in an effort to help these families attain self-sufficiency. To accomplish this we have several programs ranging from Emergency Assistance, which gives food, hygiene products, and cleaning supplies to families and individuals in need,to our Emergency Shelter, an Employment Team, Housing Team, Case Management Support, Social Security Opportunitites, and a Payee Program. Through case work, outreach, advocacy, and a continued interest in meeting the varied needs of the at-risk population we are working to make the community a better place for all.
