Translation Commons is looking for creative and motivated people to take up the volunteer position of social media manager. This is a great opportunity for you to contribute to an international volunteer organization and to share your expertise.
The social media managers will aid our different teams in creating a social media strategy involving Twitter, LinkedIn, possibly using OBSProject.com for the streaming services to satisfy their marketing needs.
Do you want to help a non-profit language organization meet their goals? You can be our next Social Media Manager.
This is a volunteer and remote opportunity.
Responsibilities include:
- Address the social media marketing needs of our groups, including but not limited to creating a social media strategy involving Twitter and LinkedIn and using OSBProject.com or other platforms to provide streaming services.
- Complete other marketing-related jobs based on client’s needs.
We are looking for individuals with the following qualifications:
- Familiarity with social media platforms, esp. LinkedIn and Twitter;
- Experience creating and managing ad campaigns preferred;
- Strong project management skills preferred;
- Strong communication skills;
- Ability to proactively identify problems and to use creativity and initiative to solve them;
- Weekly commitment of at least 5 hours per week.

Description
Translation Commons is a non-profit community of language lovers, professionals and technologists. We provide a roadmap and create resources for a digital ecosystem where all languages have equal access and speakers can pursue educational, cultural and economic opportunities.
We are partners to the International Year of Indigenous Languages, a UNESCO initiative, and are creating resources for the International Decade of Indigenous Languages, 2022-2032, making language rights a reality for all people! Our Language Digitization Initiative is enabling many languages to get their script online and partake to digital opportunities.
Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our community. Their passion for language and their expertise in technology are the cornerstones of all our initiatives. Our activities are centered around career paths that volunteers can engage, experience and practice. Our platform offers over 40 free language related tools. Our courses and resources include a variety of language topics, all created by our volunteers.
As part of our support towards Pandemic, Crisis, Emergency & Safety ; our Covid-19 poster-maker is translated in over 350 languages and for the majority of these communities, our poster has been the only Covid-19 information available in their language. Our volunteers also offer their help to other organizations responding to any ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
