REPORTS TO:Development

OBJECTIVE:School Group is looking for a proactive Solutions Architect Volunteerto join our software development team.

This is a unique opportunity to help implement our vision of providing the first online resource database for K-12 students around the globe. If you have strong technical skills and a passion for advancing socially impactful technology, we want to hear from you!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Works closely with Learning Management Domain experts (business & technology) and business architects to develop architecture roadmaps
  • Gather requirements by talking to users/stakeholders and understanding product goals.
  • Develop Enterprise Solution Architecture patterns.
  • Design a Distributed and/or Microservices Architecture.
  • Document Architecture requirements for development and operations.
  • Evaluate and implement cloud-based Software Architecture solution.
  • Train, mentor and support others on Architecture frameworks/tools.
  • Create clear documentation and knowledgebase articles on Software Architecture.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. The successful candidate should have:

  • Strong Solutions Architectskills with passion for web design and development.
  • 5-10 years of Experience as the Lead Architect with strong emphasis on OOAD, layered application development, domain driven design architecture design patterns.
  • Experience in the Ed Tech and Online Learning Domain.
  • Knowledge of data analytics tools and techniques.
  • Experience developing Enterprise Solution Architecture patterns.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; works with others to coordinate efforts, resolve cross-team issues, and effectively communicate changes
  • 2+ years of experience working in AWS or Azure cloud platforms
  • Distributed, and Microservice Architecture is desirable
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in (or current undergraduate student)

  • Willingness and ability to prioritize School Group.

  • Previous experience with start-ups. Ability to adapt to change. Be self-driven.

  • Thorough understanding of software development lifecycle.

  • Prefer experience with Azure.

  • Experience collaborating with a development, DevOps and product teams utilizing Atlassian Tools such as Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket.

  • Must have a positive "can do" attitude and be willing to work collaboratively.

  • Must have a proactive approach to keeping our systems and data safe.

  • Must have a strong passion for advancing the technical development of our School Group Product.

Bonus(es): Experience with Online Learning, Curriculum Development and userand/or open-source code.
