Grant Writer(s) for Urban Forestry

Mission - Urban Forestry
Increase the tree canopy in low income, low canopy areas throughout Arizona to make our communities more resilient

Role Purpose
Responsible for writing grant proposals for urban forestry projects in partnership with the Urban Forestry Priority team. Grant writers will report directly to the Grants Manager and the Executive Director of the Arizona Sustainability Alliance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals
• Engage with Urban Forestry Priority team to learn about urban forestry projects and be comfortable enough to write grants
• Collaborate with Monitoring and Evaluation Manager to ensure that evaluation of grants is appropriate for each project
• Collaborate with the Finance Committee to gather financial information necessary to write and submit grant proposals
• Assist with grants for other priorities based on availability

Ideal Skill Set

• Knowledge of urban forestry, education, natural science, and trees
• Strong written communication skills
• Proficient at writing clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals
• Strong editing skills
• Attention to detail
• Able to meet deadlines and handle multiple assignments
• Able to be an active contributor and work well in team environments
• Experience with proposal writing
• Minimum of one year writing grants
• Experience with non-profit fundraising

Time Commitment: Approximately 5-10 hours per week
