At Lantern, we provide permanent housing and social services for people who have been homeless for a long time, come from disadvantaged communities, and deal with issues such as mental illnesses, physical disabilities or HIV. We also provide housing for young people who have aged out of foster care. We have 15 supportive housing buildings located in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx, and serve a total population of about 1,500 people. We also operate and support two emergency shelters: one in Queens and the other in Washington Heights

Currently, Lantern is looking for an intern or volunteer that has experience or wants more experience in Human Resources. Our HR team is looking for someone who can assist with employee recruitment and wants to learn more about/acquire Human Resource skillsets. This role requires a 10-20 hour commitment and is in the process of being a paid position. Please reach out if you are interested!

About Lantern Community Services

494 8th avenue, 20th floor, New York, NY 10001, US

Mission Statement

Lantern Community Services champions the independence and well-being of New Yorkers who have been impacted by or threatened with homelessness, as well as those who have aged out of foster care.

Lantern is home to more than 1,400 formerly homeless people who live in our 15 apartment buildings across New York City. We pioneered services for people living with HIV, and we are one of the largest providers for young adults who have aged out of foster care. We give people more than just basic support and a place to live, prioritizing interventions with scientifically proven results. We’ve grown our programs a lot recently, working creatively with our existing resources, but now we need volunteer power to bring more programs to more of our clients!
