Mission Statement
Lantern Community Services champions the independence and well-being of New Yorkers who have been impacted by or threatened with homelessness, as well as those who have aged out of foster care.
Description
Lantern is home to more than 1,400 formerly homeless people who live in our 15 apartment buildings across New York City. We pioneered services for people living with HIV, and we are one of the largest providers for young adults who have aged out of foster care. We give people more than just basic support and a place to live, prioritizing interventions with scientifically proven results. We’ve grown our programs a lot recently, working creatively with our existing resources, but now we need volunteer power to bring more programs to more of our clients!
