Literacy Connections of the Hudson Valley provides valuable, free, language and reading instruction to adult students throughout Columbia, Greene, Dutchess and Orange Counties. Since the coronavirus pandemic, we have had to shift our service approach to utilizing online platforms to connect students and our volunteer instructors. We are currently in great need of volunteers who can work with our students remotely.
No teaching experience, or foreign language is necessary. We provide free training, resources, and ongoing support to our volunteers. By volunteering to be a virtual learning tutor, you can work with students from the comfort of your own home, on a schedule that you set with your student(s).
As a Literacy Connections Volunteer, you will be joining a community of like-minded individuals who love reading, value education, and enjoy the rewarding sense of improving the lives of others.
Please contact Heather Martin, area coordinator for Columbia and Greene Counties at colgreene@literacyconnections.org or by calling 518-828-1792 ext 104 if you are interested in becoming a Literacy Connections Volunteer.
Literacy Connections’ Columbia and Greene County Office is located within the office of the Hudson Area Library. Literacy Connections North is funded by NYSED, the Dyson Foundation and the generosity of friends of literacy and individual community contributions.
