Global FC Soccer Programming is committed to providing underserved youth with quality soccer opportunities and access to the best facilities, leagues and tournaments in their city. Our teams play in the Heartland Soccer League and play in two local Kansas City tournaments each season.

With the humble beginning of twelve refugee kids kicking the soccer ball around at the local community center with damaged goals and a field filled with holes, currently, our various programmings engage almost three hundred youth from over twenty-nine nations represented in the overall Global community. This includes, but not limited to: Somalia, Syria, Iraq, Congo, Rwanda, Thailand, Burma, Honduras, Mexico, Sudan, Uganda, Kenya. The overwhelming majority of youth and families we work with come from across the globe and the populations we work with speak numerous languages. The refugee population began as our area of focus. Our programming is now accessible to any at-risk and underserved youth.

We are committed to investing in youth from our nations low income families by providing access to quality sports opportunities, breaking the "pay to play" model. By hiring dedicated coaches and trainers, alongside our diverse volunteer base, we aim to inspire their success on and off the field by encouraging youth to pursue their greatest potential as individuals and athletes. Currently, Global FC Soccer Programming serves youth from ages 11-18 years old.

Our Fall season runs from August to November and the Spring season runs from March through June. Our coaches are required to train twice a week with their teams. Some soccer coaching experience is highly recommended. Global FC has partnered with U.S. Soccer and provides free Grassroots Coaching Courses for all our coaches, with special opportunities for some coaches to receive their D and C licenses.

Mission Statement

Global FC exists to bridge diverse cultures to come together, forming just communities where all are free to be fully-known and fully-loved in pursuit of their God-given purpose and potential. Mission: Global FC uses soccer as a vehicle for transformative impact.

Description

Global FC was founded by first generation refugee, Mariya Goodbrake, and primarily serves first generation immigrant and refugee youth in the northeast neighborhoods of Kansas City, Missouri using soccer as our tool for transformation. We support youth with the tools to overcome obstacles to success by providing resources, opportunities, and relationships towards a brighter future. We accomplish this through our three areas of programming: Soccer, Education and Mentoring.

Our holistic approach harnesses the power of relationships to reduce youth violence and family conflict, strengthen communities, inspire academic success, promote health and wellness and to create mentorship chains.
