Mission Statement

Global FC exists to bridge diverse cultures to come together, forming just communities where all are free to be fully-known and fully-loved in pursuit of their God-given purpose and potential. Mission: Global FC uses soccer as a vehicle for transformative impact.

Description

Global FC was founded by first generation refugee, Mariya Goodbrake, and primarily serves first generation immigrant and refugee youth in the northeast neighborhoods of Kansas City, Missouri using soccer as our tool for transformation. We support youth with the tools to overcome obstacles to success by providing resources, opportunities, and relationships towards a brighter future. We accomplish this through our three areas of programming: Soccer, Education and Mentoring.

Our holistic approach harnesses the power of relationships to reduce youth violence and family conflict, strengthen communities, inspire academic success, promote health and wellness and to create mentorship chains.

Global FC is a great non-profit that works to help different parts of the community thrive in a new environment. I had the pleasure of working with them to assist them virtually. It was a wonderful experience and the work they are doing is very important in supporting the community.

I have been volunteering with GlobalFC since 2019. With any group of students, some days are more challenging than others. But I always come away feeling so good about helping these kids out. I've formed relationships with some of these families that have lasted years. After you've gained their trust, you form bonds that make you feel so happy about the work you do. Whenever I see one of my students achieve some success, I always brag to my friends and family about how well one of my kids is doing. I've also learned a lot about other cultural practices that help enrich my own life. I've changed my way of thinking about the way things should be in life. It opens up my mind and makes me a better person.

Such a great organization to volunteer with. I enjoy getting to know the kids, my co-volunteers, and the employees. I started volunteering in November and will continue for as long as I can. They take every precaution necessary with COVID as well. Highly recommend them!
