HERE TO SERVE is looking for a volunteer e-mail copywriter to work in supporting our mission to mobilize people and resources to meet daily living requirements of families struggling with pediatric cancer who do not qualify for government assistance.

ABOUT HERE TO SERVE:

We believe a child or young parent’s cancer diagnosis is a life-altering "journey." For that reason, the care and support of the family are required to prevent parent(s) from losing their physical and mental health, home, job, and entering into bankruptcy. Therefore, we provide wraparound services to meet the daily living needs of young families navigating cancer.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking an e-mail copywriter to focus on our e-mail campaigns. Create effective e-mail titles and copy that will resonate with our audience within the pediatric cancer category. Help build our e-mail calendar, as well as determine sources for content generation. Will require thoughtful strategies to engage our constituency of 3,000 donors and volunteers to donate, volunteer and be an ambassador for Here to Serve. You will be working with the Here to Serve Executive Director and Impact Consulting, a pro bono group working with Here to Serve on our Social Media strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Write and disseminate engaging e-mail campaigns that inspire action (donate, volunteer or be an ambassador to recruit new patient families)
• Develop key email components such as content direction, compelling e-mail subject, and engaging e-mail copy
• Develop email segmentation of our constituency database tailored to each campaign
• Work with the Executive Director to execute email strategy
• Help select images to go along with the post

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum volunteer hours expected: 5-6 hours per week
• Bachelor's degree required in English, Communications, or Marketing.
• At least 2 years of professional experience as an e-mail copywriter.
• Deep knowledge of e-mail content strategy and creation.
• Fluent in spoken and written English and lives in the U.S.
• Ability to work independently.
• Proficiency with Word, email software (experience with Salsa Engage a BIG plus!), and project management tools such as Trello.
