LITERALLY MILLIONS OF VETERANS ARE SUFFERING NEEDLESSLY DUE TO A LACK OF KNOWLEDGE!

4.7 MILLION SENIORS live below the poverty line, having to CHOOSE BETWEEN MEDICINE, FOOD, AND HEAT, WHO MAY NOT HAVE TO. We estimate that 2 Million of them just don’t know that they may qualify for an average of $900 per month in FREE benefits from the VA, and how to get it.

MORE VETERANS DIE OF SUICIDE THAN COMBAT, UP TO 44 A DAY. Millions who volunteered to serve our country, suffer needlessly because they aren’t aware of the help that is available for 90+ issues they and their families grapple with, and how to get that help.

We are Know A Vet? (KAV), an IRS approved (82-1566302), FREE service to veterans, their families, and caregivers, designed to Attract, Inform and Connect those who volunteered to risk their lives to protect ours and our way of life. We provide information and personal assistance, to aid in the learning of 80+ issues they have earned help for, and how to get that help, through government and/or community resources, for their best possible life after service.

Please, help us get millions of seniors out of poverty and save countless marriages, destroyed by Vets returning after 3, 4, or 5 deployments with PTSD and a myriad of other physical and emotional issues that make many anti-social, unable to hang on to a job, riddled with constant nightmares, flashbacks and more.

Because "No one comes home from war 'alive’."

KAV, a FREE, Confidential service to veterans, their families, and caregivers, is in need of grants and donations to fund our work. We have extremely low overhead, as we are virtual and all volunteers. In fact, we are so efficient that our budget has been less than $35k for the last three years. But programs like our outreach to seniors require significantly more funding. Approximately $375k over the next three years. That produces a 5+ to 1 rate of return to our veterans.

As with almost all nonprofit organizations, KnowAVet needs to raise funds for general operations as well as for specific programs and new initiatives. A key part of that fundraising strategy for KAV is grant-writing to philanthropic foundations. We are therefore looking for a volunteer to be a member of the Foundations Team with the following responsibilities:

On-line research (databases, websites, internet searches)

E-mail & mail merges from template letter

Admin/technology skills (Microsoft teams, Excel, Word)

Phone calls (research, follow-up)

5 hours/week, including weekly check-in meetings with Grant Manager for priority-setting and trouble-shooting.
